Kadai Paneer



How to make Kadai Paneer | Popular Restaurant Style Karahi Paneer Recipe | Indian Restaurant Style Spicy Cottage Cheese Recipe with Stepwise images

I'm back with one more paneer recipe. Sharing restaurant style recipe with stepwise images. Kadai Paneer aka Karahi Paneer - An Indian vegetarian dish made of cottage cheese, onions, capsicum, tomatoes and a blend of Indian spices.




Kadai Paneer is the most popular paneer recipe and perhaps the most ordered paneer dishes in Indian Restaurants..



Karahi is a Hindi word, it means a thick, deep bowl shaped frying pan with two round loop shaped handles. 


Let's get started 


☑Recipe details 

⚫Cuisine Indian 
⚫Preparation time 5-10 minutes
⚫cook time 15-20 minutes 
⚫Servings 2-3


☑Ingredients required 

⚫250 grams paneer 
⚫3  tomatoes 
⚫One medium onion 
⚫1 capsicum
⚫2tsp ginger, garlic green chilly paste.
⚫1tsp garam masala powder
⚫3-4 tsp kadai masala powder
⚫2 tsp red chilly powder
⚫salt to taste 
⚫1 tbsp cooking oil


☑For Kadai Masala Powder 

⚫2tbsp coriander seeds 
⚫2 Kashmiri red chillies
⚫1tsp cumin seeds
⚫1tsp fennel seeds
⚫½tsp black pepper 
⚫½ tsp Kasuri Methi (Dried fenugreek leaves)


☑Method 


✔Step 1 Prepare Kadai Masala powder 

◾Combine all the ingredients mentioned below for kadai Masala in a fry pan and dry roast on slow flame for a minute or two.

◾Allow it to cool down and then   transfer it to mixer grinder jar, use pulse button and blend it for 12-15 seconds and make a coarse powder... 

◾Keep it aside until called for..



✔Step 2 Vegetable Cutting

◾Paneer Cut into cubes 
◾capsicum Cut into cubes 
◾Tomatoes - one tomato, cut into cubes and remaining two - finely chopped or puree it
◾Onion Cut into cubes 
◾ginger garlic, finely chopped or make a paste


✔Step 3 Cooking time

◾Heat oil in a heavy bottomed frying pan or wok. 

◾Add 1tsp kadai masala powder.. Stir fry for 10-15 seconds.. 

◾Add tomato puree, cook it on medium to high flame for 3-5 minutes. 

◾Add ginger, garlic and green chilies . Mix well saute again for a min or two. 

◾Add chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste... mix it well... 

◾Now add tomato, capsicum and onion cubes and saute for a minute or two.

◾Add paneer cubes and garam masala powder... Mix it gently.

◾Cover it with the lid and cook for 3-5 minutes or until done... if needed add ⅓ cup water..



◾ Lastly sprinkle kadai masala powder.. Stir gently and serve hot with roti or naan..

    1. Yes. Well said. Shared paneer recipes on the very same day.☺👍 You know earlier I use to find very difficult as camera card memory was very low...so was not to work on 2-3 recipes simultaneously.. But now after upgradation.. It becomes very easy.. This recipe was prepared last week. But due to festive mood and kitchen repair work, it got delayed.
