IMLI CHUTNEY (INSTANT TAMARIND CHUTNEY)

My today's recipe is instant and super quick recipe of Imli Chutney.  This imli chutney recipe is one of the most important accompaniment in most of Indian Chat’s like Ragda Patties, Dahi Vada, Pani Puri, Bhel Puri, Sev Puri, Dahi Puri. Tamarind chutney recipe is very simple and quick recipe which can be made in a jiffy.

♨ Ingredients Required 

  • 2tbsp Tamarind Paste
  • 70g Jaggery (grated)
  • 1tsp Ajwain (carom seeds)
  • 2tbsp red chilly powder
  • 1tsp rock salt - Kala Namak
  • 1tsp cumin powder
  • 1tsp garam masala powder
  • 1tbsp sugar
  • 1tsp salt




♨Cooking preparation :-


✒ In a saucepan, add 100 ml water and mix all the ingredients mentioned above, i.e tamarind paste, grated jaggery, ajwain, sugar, cumin powder, red chilly powder, garam masala powder, rock salt and salt to taste. Simmer for at least 10-12 minutes till it starts to thicken.



It’s up to you how you like the chutney to be thicker  or  little bit runny. Adjust spice and salt if needed. Remove from heat, cool down and then store the tamarind chutney in an airtight container. Use as and when required.

  1. Wow! This is any awesome idea, I too always prepares tamarind chutey with paste only. It is quick and mess free—tastes wonderful too! :) I have never used ajwain in tamarind chutney yet, I bet that tastes amazing!

      Thank you so much dear :) Very good observation, use of ajwain in this chutney is added purposely considering health point.Tamarind is acidic food, so this leads to induce acid reflux means it aggravate problem of acidity . So that's the reason ajwain is added in tamarind chutney.. Ajwain contains high levels of thymol, a chemical, which aids the release of gastric juices from the stomach and thus, speed up the process of digestion. This is the reason, why ajwain plays a key role in relieving indigestion, flatulence
