Dry Fruit Urad Dal Halwa - Authentic Recipe

I am back with one more authentic winter special recipe which is very rich, healthy, super tasty, heavenly delightful, and most demanded, dry fruit sweet recipe in our house.




The unique thing in this recipe is the use of urad dal as a base ingredient. I'm sharing this recipe again, but method of preparation is completely different.




If you remember, I had shared urad dal dry fruit recipe earlier too but with different method as at that time I have decided to play very safe for my this sweet recipe, but now I'm very confident to follow this authentic recipe.

This dry fruit urad dal halwa recipe takes time to prepare, it requires patience dedication and best recipe to test your culinary skills. This is one of the best healthy sweet which is must try for the Diwali sweet preparation..


Let's begin with the recipe details


♥ Recipe  details 

⚫Prep Time :  30-35 Min
⚫Cook Time : 35-40 Min
⚫Dal soaking time 4-6 hours or overnight

♥ Ingredients required 


⚫250 g Urad dal (white lentil)
⚫200g Mava (Khoya)  or 1 ltr milk reduced to 70%
⚫100 -120 grams Dry Dates
⚫50g Dry Coconut
⚫100g Walnuts
⚫100g Almonds
⚫100 g Cashew nuts
⚫50g Poppy Seeds
⚫5-6 green cardamom 
⚫250-280g sugar (Syrup - 2 thread)
⚫220-250g ghee 


 Method


♥ Step 1 - Mise en place



◾Urad dal - Rinse and soak urad dal in enough water for 4-6 hours, and then rinse again. Drain the water and  blend in a food chopper or food processor to smooth batter adding very little water.








◾Dry fruits - (Dry roast, Chop or crush). Roughly chop nuts with a knife or use mini chopper or food processor.











◾Green cardamom: dry roast and then grind it with dates.

◾Dry Coconut - grated


◾Sugar syrup preparation -use equal quantity of water and sugar -  we need sugar syrup of two thread consistency.


♥Step 2 Cooking time


◾Heat ghee in a  non stick or heavy bottomed pan, add urad dal batter and roast on slow to medium flame for 12-15 minutes.  You have to cook urad dal, till it separates ghee...








◾Add mava and cook again for 3-5 minutes. Now add all crushed dry ingredients that is dates, dry coconut, almonds, walnuts and cashew nuts, stir well, saute for 3-5 minutes on slow flame. Add sugar syrup as that helps to give the binding to this sweets. Stir and mix everything well.








◾Grease the tray or thali, pour the mixture into the thali, spread evenly, When cool down..







◾Cut into desirable shapes,.Top it with rose petals, pistachio and almonds.
