Yellow moong dal is easy to cook, easy to digest and one of the most popular eaten dal in India. It is a good source of protein and dietary fiber. . Addition of yellow moong dal makes this snack preparation very healthy and wholesome .. I'm very sure this nutritious and yummilicious twist in this Chaat recipe is very much loved in your house as well..

2. Preparation of spicy green chutney
3. Boil the potatoes 
4..Dal preparation
5. Chop vegetables
6. Food plating and serving

⚫Recipe type - Snacks and appetizers

⚫Cooking time 15 - 20 minutes

☑Ingredients required for Moong dal sev batata puri





⚫1 Pack papdi / puri (crispy flat puri)
⚫200 grams fine nylon sev 
⚫1 cup pomegranate arils
⚫5-6 Boiled Potatoes - finely chopped
⚫2 tomatoes - finely chopped
⚫2 onions - finely chopped
⚫Salt to taste
⚫Chaat masala 
⚫Green chutney
⚫Khajur Imli chutney
⚫Moong dal cooked 
⚫Coriander leaves for garnish



☑Ingredients required for Khajur Imli Chutney 


⚫200 grams Dates (preferably Seedless)
⚫60-70 grams Tamarind 
⚫50-60 grams Jaggery
⚫2-3 tbsp Kashmiri red chilly powder 
⚫1-2 tsp black salt - Kala Namak
⚫Pinch of sea salt - Mota Namak 
⚫1-2 tsp ajwain 
⚫1 tsp dry ginger powder
⚫⅓ tsp garam masala powder
⚫1-2 tsp cumin seeds powder 
⚫1 tsp fennel seed powder 
⚫Salt to taste


☑Ingredients required for green chutney 


⚫2 handful coriander leaves
⚫8-10 curry leaves
⚫1- 2 onions
⚫6-8 green chillies
⚫½ tsp sugar
⚫1 tbsp lemon juice
⚫Salt to taste


☑Ingredients required for Moong Dal


⚫1 cup moong dal
⚫1 tsp turmeric powder
⚫1 tbsp ghee
⚫Salt to taste


☑Method
✔Step 1 Mise en place


Prepare Khajur Imli chutney - refer this recipe

Prepare green chutney - Combine all ingredients mentioned under for green chutney and half cup water in a blender and blend until smooth.

Moong dal - Washed - Soaked - Add salt, turmeric and ghee and cook it on slow flame until soft. Churn it with a lentil masher until smooth and creamy in texture.


Potatoes - Boiled - peeled - finely chopped - sprinkle salt and Chaat masala. Mix it up nicely.

Tomatoes- washed - finely chopped

Onions - Peeled - Finely chopped

Pomegranate - cleaned and deseeded


✔Step 2 Plating and serving


◾Take a serving platter, nicely arrange the papdi, top it with potatoes, onions, tomatoes on each puri. 

◾Now put moong dal, green chutney and Khajur Imli chutney

◾Sprinkle sev and garnish it with coriander leaves and pomegranate arils on each puri.



◾Serve immediately.
