Karela Do Pyaza Sabzi



How to make Karela Sabzi, Karela Do Pyaza recipe, Bitter Gourd Stir Fried in onion tomato gravy


Sharing step by step recipe of bitter gourd which are blanched, stir fried and cooked in onion and tomato based gravy.


Love it or hate it, but don't forget to eat it. Well, this is my new slogan for karela recipes. This is one vegetable I just love to eat ! You know why? Because it is beneficial for our digestive system, excellent source of fiber, good for colon health and best food for healthy glowing skin. 


As you all know Bitter gourd have many health benefits, it not only good for diabetes, but it also helps to clean the liver and regenerate the liver cell. It serves to detoxify the blood of toxins, it contains a chemical that acts like insulin to help reduce blood sugar levels. 


This is my third blog posting on Bitter gourd - and expect more to come.. As at present my only focus is to pick one vegetable and share all variations that are cooked in our house and best part all recipes posted till today are not trial and error recipes, but all these are our tried and tested recipes or best word suited would be Roz Ka Khana..

⚫Prep time - 15 min
⚫Cook time - 25 min
⚫Cuisine - Indian 
⚫Recipe type - Main Course 
⚫Recipe difficulty level - very easy
⚫Servings 4

☑ INGREDIENTS REQUIRED⬇


⚫500 grams Karela (bitter gourd) - Washed, peeled, blanched
⚫6-7 onions - chopped 
⚫3 tomatoes - chopped 
⚫2 green chillies 
⚫2tsp coriander powder
⚫2tsp red chilly powder,
⚫1 tsp turmeric powder
⚫1 tsp garam masala powder
⚫Salt to taste
⚫1 tbsp coriander leaves
⚫1tbsp Cooking oil


☑ METHOD ⬇


☑ STEP 1 MISE EN PLACE - VEGETABLE CHOPPING 

⚫Karela - Peeled, blanched and saute or shallow fried 
⚫Onions - roughly chopped 
⚫Tomatoes - roughly chopped 
⚫Coriander leaves - finely chopped 
⚫green chillies - finely chopped.


☑ Step 2:- Cooking Time

⚫Heat the oil in a frying pan, add the onions and saute them on high flame until translucent. 



Add tomatoes  mix well. saute till tomato gets cooked nicely. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilly powder, green chilies and salt to taste. Mix it well.



⚫Add the karela pieces, blend well. Cook it for a minute or two. ⚫Then add one cup of water. Passover it with a lid and let it gets cooked on a slow flame for 5-10 minutes.


⚫Garnish it with garam masala powder and coriander leaves. Serve it hot.
