Avocado Paratha



How to make Avocado Paratha, Super Soft Makhan Phal Paratha 


Today I'm going to share super soft, healthy, easy to prepare, delicious recipe of Avocado Paratha which is prepared with whole wheat flour and stuffed with avocado, lime juice, green chillies and mustard paste.



Avocados are pear shaped green to brown - black skin berry fruit. It contains round shape single large seed and has soft, light green flesh. The flesh of avocado has buttery, creamy, smooth, earthy and nutty taste.


Avocados are the one of the most healthy fatty fruits which is good for strong bones, It is one of the most essential ingredient of guacamole - Mexican Avocado Dip. It is low in carbohydrates and rich in heart healthy monounsaturated fatty acids and loaded with fiber, potassium and various other important nutrients.


In Hindi Avocados are called as Makhan Phal. Avocado. (Persea Americana) is also known as the alligator pear, butter pear, butter fruit and vegetable butter is one of the few "Berry Fruits" that can provide you a high amount of protein and fat. Yes, you heard it correct, Avocado is a not vegetable, but it is berry fruit. Avocado is actually classified in flowering plant family and is part of the berry family..


Let's get started 

☑Recipe details 

◾Preparation time 5-10 minutes
◾Cooking time 20-25 minutes 
◾Yield 10-12 Paratha 


☑Ingredients required 

◾2 Avocados
◾300/350 + 50 grams wheat flour
◾1tsp cumin seeds powder 
◾1tsp garam masala powder 
◾1tsp mustard paste (Optional)
◾1tbsp ghee 
◾1 handful of cilantro leaves
◾2-3 green chillies or as per taste
◾Salt to taste

◾40-60 ml water for kneading the dough as per need to make stiff dough.

Mustard paste 


☑Method 
✔Step 1 : Mise en Place

◾Avocado - Wash - pat dry - cut into halves and remove the pit. Apply few drops of lemon juice to avoid avocado from turning brown. Peel the skin, remove the flesh and mash it with the help of fork. Keep it aside until needed.







◾Green chillies - wash - pat dry - finely chopped 

◾Coriander leaves, rinsed and finely chopped 

✔Step 2 Dough Kneading 


◾Get hold of a dough kneading plate or mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients i.e. wheat flour, mashed avocado, coriander leaves, green chillies, mustard paste, cumin seeds powder, garam masala powder, and salt to taste.. Mix well till the flour resembles crumbs. Add water as per need, Knead into stiff and pliable dough Allow it to rest for 3-5 minutes.








✔Step 3 Roll and roast

◾Divide the dough into big lemon size equal portions. Roll a portion into a 6" diameter circle with the help of rolling pin.




◾Heat a flat tawa or nonstick frying pan on a medium heat, place the rolled avocado paratha on it. Cook for a few minutes and then flip it to other sides. Apply  few drops of ghee. Cook till both the sides are nicely cooked and light brown patches appear on both the sides.. 





◾Serve hot with curd, chutney or pickle of your choice...
